I tried for twenty minutes or so and it was no go.I do like the way the phantom power is set up. The idea, obviously, of it being a non-adjustable clamp, is the clenching power of the plastic will be enough to hold the mike - and I'm certain it would have been if I could have gotten it on.

As you an see in the photograph, it comes with an attachment to mount it on a tripod (or music stand, etc.) but the 3/4 holder - the gadget which clamps around the microphone barrel - is too small.

This should have been supplied.I do have one (or two) gripes. To fit it on a stand with a normal thread size - which I think is 3/8 you will need to buy an adapter. I don't even know if they still make mike stands with a thread that wide. The other thing is that the holder is designed to go on a mike stand with a very large thread - maybe 5/8 or so. I had to literally cut some plastic off each side to get the mike to fit. It is so tight that it's impossible to use. I just remembered my one 'quibble': the mike holder.

i can't remember what this microphone cost but it wasn't much - around $30 if I recall, maybe less, but it is certainly good value for the money. I might well not have bought it if Amazon had not had a 'no question' returns policy. I found this microphone surprisingly good considering its price. There's never much sense in comparing apples with oranges, but my point of reference for a 'shotgun' microphone is the Sennheiser MKH-416 which I unfortunately sold years ago.
